These are complex problems and frequently require collaboration between general surgeons and plastic surgeons.
We work with other physicians through the Atrium Health systems, Piedmont Medical Center, and MUSC-Lancaster to provide multiple physician teams the opportunity to take care of patients locally, rather than having to refer to larger centers.
Dr. D had the privelege of training in burn reconstruction at one of the busiest burn centers in the United States. During the time spent at UNC he was able to perform research, and clinical trials to further our knowledge about burn reconstruction.
Technology has advanced in the last few years to allow minimally invasive treatments with lasers and light based therapies to promote better scarring, and to allow the least noticeable scars as possible.
